Product Description
Kodiak, Grizzly Bear Skull. Ursus arctos Kodiak Island. CAlifornia Academy of sciences Specimen SPECIMEN. 432mm/17in.
The Kodiak bear and the polar bear are the largest members of the bear family[9]. Kodiak bears can grow to be 3.2 metres (10.5 feet) long and can weigh nearly 700 kilograms (over 1,500 lbs). Physically, they are similair to the Kamchatka Brown Bears of the Russian Far East, though tending to be lighter in colour.
Though frequently referred to as the largest land carnivore, the Kodiak bear is actually an omnivore. Their main diet consists more of grass, plants and berries than of meat. Fish are an important part of their diets. They don't often spend the time to chase mammals. Their preferred food includes parts of the salmon as brains, flesh and eggs, as well as internal organs of deer, elk and cattle.
